E. Šimfas monogrāfijā paveikti divi uzdevumi, pirmkārt, veikts pētījums par vācu filozofa Imanuela Kanta (1724-1804) antropoloģiju kā vienotu mācību, nevis atsevišķu tematiski un konceptuāli neapvienojamu ideju kopumu Kanta filozofijā, otrkārt, lai šo antropoloģijas vienotību nodrošinātu, veikts pētījums par antropoloģijas atiecībām ar citām Kanta filozofijas daļām, sevišķi ētiku, un antropoloģijai ierādīta vieta Kanta filozofijas korpusā.
