Latvian national costume expert ant the founder "Senā klēts", Maruta Grasmane has devoted her most recent book of Latvian ethnographic mittens. Having completed many years of research on the subject at the National History Museum of Latvia, the Liepāja Museum and the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia, author M.Grasmane has chosen 178 pairs of mittnes created from 18th to beginning of the 20th centiry which best characterize the mitten-knitting traditions of the various regions of Latvia. The illustrations ant the technical graphs draw of the published mittens allow readers to learn about Latvian mitten-making traditions as well as about the ornamental patterns used and also provide inspiration for the readers' own handiwork.
